Diabetes with Weight Management Instructor
Qualifications: Level 3 Personal Trainer, Level 3 Exercise Referral, Level 4 Obesity & Diabetes with Weight Management
Mel found herself in the position of having gained a lot of weight, to the point of obesity (BMI 35) during her pregnancy and decided to actively lose the weight a year after the birth of her second son. She found that exercise played an important part in her weight loss journey and decided to retrain so that she could pass on her experiences and advise others.
Whilst working as a Fitness Instructor at the John Pounds Centre Mel qualified as a Level 3 Exercise Referral Instructor and then a Level 4 Obesity & Diabetes with Weight Management Instructor. She is currently studying towards a BSc Honours in Sport & Fitness.
In addition to working with clients on a 1-1 basis in the gym Mel teaches classes such as HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Legs, Bums & Tums, Modified Circuits and Toning. She has also designed a low impact aerobics and strength training class with nutrition advice specifically for those affected by Diabetes.
As well as being a Mum, Mel enjoys running, weightlifting and reading.
