TRE® Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises
Have you ever started to shake before giving a speech or perhaps after an accident or injury? If you have, you’ve experienced ‘neurogenic tremors’ and you’ve probably done all you can to suppress them! But did you know that these tremors are the body’s natural mechanism for releasing stress, tension and trauma from the system?
TRE consists of a series of simple exercises which activate this natural shaking or tremoring reflex in the body, which all mammals and humans share. This reflex releases muscle tension, calms the nervous system, and returns the body to a more relaxed and balanced state, where health and healing can occur.
The great thing about TRE is that it can be used to relieve daily stress as well as deep physical and emotional trauma*. It’s easy and fun to learn, and there’s no need for you to talk about your stress or trauma history. Once you’ve learnt the process, which usually takes around 3-4 sessions, you can practise by yourself at home.
