Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Life Sciences; DO- Diploma in Osteopathy; Member of GOsC; Teaching Fellow of Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopaths; Alumnus of the Foundation of Paediatric Osteopathy.

Mary Jane (MJ) is a dedicated Osteopath who has worked in the field for over 42 years.

She trained at the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) and qualified as an Osteopath in 1981. Since then she has completed numerous post graduate courses specialising in the delicate work of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field and in the treatment of children. She was a Consultant and teacher at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London and has recently returned to tutoring there.

She founded The Maris Practice in Twickenham in 2001 where she worked until 2018.  She has taught in the UK and all over Europe. She regularly lectures and consults at the Raiano Osteopathic Centre for Children in Italy and tutors with the SCCO faculty.

The techniques of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field, Cranial Osteopathy, are safe, gentle, and non-manipulative. They are often used when treating young children and newborn infants. Very gentle osteopathic techniques can help to release and balance areas of physical tension, helping to soothe and relax as well as promoting freer movement where the muscles have been tight.

Cranial Osteopathy requires subtle light contact with the patient and can be profoundly effective in treating a number of issues and is ideal when treating babies and children.

At The WOW Clinic, MJ treats babies and children only, and uses gentle body and cranial techniques, adapting her approach to best suit each individual and include the Mother and the whole family.

The WOW Clinic also subsidises MJ’s work with children with severe additional needs from The Rachel Madock’s School, where she and Oliver Curties worked in the past. We are already fund raising to extend this work – watch this space!

MJ works in collaboration and cooperation with local Health Care Practitioners involved in babies’ health and welfare from Midwives to Health Visitors.

She is happy to talk through any issues or worries that you may have about your child and plan accordingly! She allows an hour and a half for the first consultation and an hour for follow ups. This allows time for a thorough investigation into the health and happiness of a child, and for children to settle into the new space and the treatment process.

Her consultation and treatment gives time and space to include the other and the whole family in the healing process.
